Watch Keeping Certificate

GUIDELINES FOR CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR WATCH KEEPING CERTIFICATE (WKC)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:-

  • Candidates belonging to Deck department (Ratings – Level 1) can approach CMMI Kochi Chapter Office for submitting their applications for dangerous cargo endorsement  from Mondays to Wednesday from 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs.
  • You can download the WKC Application form and WKC Checklist from below link.
  • No Phone calls need be made to CMMI Kochi FC to check status or other inquiries (status will be updated in the website); Phone calls will not be entertained or attended to.
  • All Candidates must appear in person for submitting the application as well as for collecting the Certificates.
  • Fees applicable should be paid at the office at the time of submission of application as cash. Fees once paid cannot be reimbursed, if the application is rejected due to eligibility criteria not being met.
  • All relevant original documents are to be produced while submitting the applications for verification purpose.
  • The copies of the certificates has to be attached in the same order as denoted in the checklist.
  • Candidate should ensure that the application form is correctly filled up and all required documents are attached otherwise candidate will be declared ineligible for endorsement.

 


APPLICATION PROCEDURE:-

Category – I

Rating with Pre-Sea training as GP rating or Deck Rating.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum six months sea service in the deck department, as applicable
  • Holding Indian CDC – Category of CDC is irrelevant
  • SSC Mark sheet/ Pass certificate, if not exempted
  • Completed approved training record book for watch keeping ratings

Application should be accompanied by the photocopies of following certificates; all pages should be self-attested

  1. INDOS Receipt or Certificate.
  2. C. D. C. (all stamped pages).
  3. Passport (all stamped pages) .
  4. Original sea service testimonial letter issued by the owner / agent with RPSL no. and full address .
  5. Original Tar Book duly filled and signed.
  6. Pre Sea Training Certificate.
  7. SSLC / SSC Mark list or Pass Certificate.
  8. Medical Certificate by approved DGS Doctor taken within the last 6 months.
  9. 3 Recent colour Photographs – Passport size.

Category – II

Rating without approved Pre-Sea training as GP rating or Deck Rating.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen months sea service in the deck department, as applicable – full service under INSA/MASSA/FOSMA/ICCSA and/or approved RPSL companies with entry in Indian CDC.
  • Holding Indian CDC – Category of CDC is irrelevant
  • Completed approved training record book for watch keeping ratings

Note:- Candidates belonging to category II,  but doesn’t have approved training record book for watch keeping can submit their applications to CMMI FC. After assessment of documents for eligibility by CMMI Facilitation  centre, candidate should undergo examination conducted by BEST for watch keeping ratings. (maximum three attempts). If successful in examination, candidate is eligible for issuance of WKC by CMMI-FC on the strength of PASS certificate from BEST.

Application should be accompanied by the photocopies of following certificates; all pages should be self-attested

  1. INDOS Receipt or Certificate.
  2. Passport (all stamped pages) .
  3. C. D. C. (all stamped pages).
  4. Original sea service testimonial letter issued by the owner/agent with RPSL no. and full address .
  5. Original Tar Book duly filled and signed.
  6. Medical Certificate by approved DGS Doctor taken within the last 6 months.
  7. 3 Recent colour Photographs – Passport size.

 


Category – III

Rating without approved Pre-Sea training as GP rating or Deck Rating – Part or full service through Non RPSL agencies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen months sea service in the deck department, as applicable – Service under through Non RPSL agencies having entries in foreign CDCs.
  • Holding Indian CDC – Category of CDC is irrelevant

Note: Candidates belonging to category III can submit their applications to CMMI FC. After assessment of documents for eligibility check by CMMI Facilitation  centre, candidate should undergo examination conducted by BEST for watch keeping ratings (maximum three attempts). If successful in examination, candidate is eligible for issuance of WKC by CMMI on the strength of PASS certificate from BEST.

Application should be accompanied by the photocopies of following certificates; all pages should be self-attested

  1. INDOS Receipt or Certificate.
  2. Passport (all stamped pages) .
  3. C. D. C. (all stamped pages).
  4. Original sea service testimonial letter issued by the owner/agent with full address .
  5. Other supporting documents towards verification of sea service such as monthly wages, payment slips etc
  6. Copy of Articles of agreement or contract letter.
  7. Medical Certificate by approved DGS Doctor taken within the last 6 months.
  8. 3 Recent colour Photographs – Passport size.

Important Points

  • Applicant have to produce all the above mentioned certificates in original with valid medical certificate at the time of submission of application and collection of WKC
  • Candidate should ensure that form is correctly filled up and all required documents are attached otherwise candidate will be declared ineligible for endorsement.
  • 3 Recent passport size photograph to be submitted along with the application, photo should be taken on a light background. The application will not be accepted if the photograph is not clear or not the correct dimensions.
  • Any Person who makes any false representation or knowingly gives any false information is liable for punishment for cheating section under 182 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
  • For payment of Fees, Challan form to be collected along with application form and return it duly filled.
  • Candidates are reminded that Fees once paid cannot be reimbursed.

ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE

After Verification, CMMI Kochi Chapter will issue the Watchkeeping Certificate earliest on the following Thursdays or Fridays as applicable From 1600 Hrs To 1700 Hrs provided all the certificate verification’s are completed. In case you are not able to collect the certificate the same week; you can approach us on any of the following weeks (on Thursday or Friday) within one month’s time of issue of certificate. No Phone calls need be made to CMMI Kochi FC to check status or other inquiries (status will be updated in the website); Phone calls will not be entertained or attended to.
